			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>BOTAWA is a partnership between schools in Francistown and Mochudi in Botswana, Moshi in Tanzania and Bridgend in Wales which began in 2006 as a British Council Connecting Classrooms project.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">AIM</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>To establish a link of friendship between all partner schools, developing awareness and understanding of global issues and helping all participants become more active global citizens. </strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">OBJECTIVES</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>To develop friendship between the young people of Tanzania, Botswana and Wales.</li>
<li>To promote an understanding of the life and the cultures of other communities by encouraging pupils to both learn about the wider world and to reflect upon their own lives.</li>
<li>To plan small-scale student-student research and information exchange projects.</li>
<li>To develop specific learning outcomes which are directly linked to the global dimension, citizenship and sustainability aspects of the curriculum.</li>
<li>To cultivate a physical exchange of teachers between the countries, which contributes to staff continuous professional development, making them better practitioners.</li>
<li>To generate active contributions from all project participants.</li>
<li>To include the whole school and the local community in order to create a sustainable partnership.</li>
<li>To enhance international co-operation and intercultural understanding.</li>
</ul>
